Rampant Hill Constructions in Mulshi, Pune

Posted by संदीप नारायण शेळके on August 28, 2011

I was on outing on 26 August 2011 in the Mulshi area of Pune, Maharashtra with my family. This is an area, Sahyadri mountains, blessed with excellent monsoon and unmatched greenery with tough mountains, once ruled by his excellency Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This is a place which supplies nearly 50% of the water requirement of Pune. It also has a power generation plant by Tatas.

Today the very hills which bring the rain water to reservoirs are being cut, dug, leveled to build houses, companies, hotels and what not. Please see some sites by yourself. The whole area is being commercially exploited under the guise of development.

It shook me to the core. What kind of Humans are these people. Let alone preservation these people are invading the very nature which houses enormous natural life and attracts tourists. Local residents would understand the value once the lose the greenery. A few moneybags are looting us in broad daylight. This is shameful and very disturbing.

Jai Bharat!

We can go home – IDEA

Posted by संदीप नारायण शेळके on April 30, 2011

This is open discussion thread started with intention to have like minded people discussing solution to the common problem.

There are many like me in the Urban Areas who are struggling hard to get back to the village, where their roots are.

A remote village in Orissa

I left my village at the age of 16, after SSC, in 1999. Since then I’m a Non Resident Villager. It pains like hell when I eat sub-standard food, breath worst air and sleep under fan/AC, only to get headache. It never gave me a sense of fulfillment being in city. I’m living in Pune for almost 10 Years now, but never felt the situation is improving. Living standards are deteriorating drastically, making it highly polluted (Air, Noise, Water) and unlivable.

Alright. So situation is worst. What can we do? How can we break the barrier, fear? How can we go back to our beloved home? Can we not shift permanently to village of origin/love? No I’m not saying after retirement, I mean to live the life now. I think YES, we can go back and be successful there too.

But Then What stops (most of) us from going back?

  • Consistent Income Source
  • Employment Opportunity
  • Growth Opportunity

So friends lets start sharing ideas about it.

Business ideas I’ve been thinking:

  1. Milk business (Project plan is ready)
  2. Calves Raring (Project Plan is ready)
  3. Rural BPO (Few ideas are in my mind)
  4. Oil Extraction (Project Plan is ready)
  5. Sanitary Napkins (Nirmal brand from Solapur)
  6. Vegetable Supply Chain (Organic fresh veg contract farming)
  7. Farmer Consultancy to improve production and market at better price
  8. Training centers (10th, 12th, Entrance Preparation)
  9. Food processing (Pickles, Papad, Chips)
  10. Eco construction material (like TARA Machines)
  11. Educational institutions (Schools, Colleges, Vocational)
  12. Storage facilities

Please share. If you’ve any further ideas. If you are working in same area. Above all we have to realize power of now.

ARISE, AWAKE and ALIGN
